In honor of Dwarfism Awareness Month, Women Make Movies is partnering with ReelAbilities* to offer a free, on-demand panel discussion exploring belonging and visibility.
The conversation features filmmaker Julie Forrest Wyman as well as artist, performer, and filmmaker Sofiya Cheyenne, moderated by Lawrence Carter-Long, Director of Engagement at ReelAbilities. Together, they discuss THE TALLEST DWARF (dir. Julie Forrest Wyman, executive produced by Sofiya Cheyenne), a WMM release, alongside HOW WE LOOK, a series of short films co-directed by Forrest Wyman and Cheyenne.
Throughout the discussion, the filmmakers reflect on their collaborative approach and experience to documentary filmmaking and the importance of creating space to tell their stories. Their work challenges conventional narratives and invites audiences to reconsider
how disability, identity, and belonging are portrayed on screen.
The Dwarfism Awareness Month panel is available to stream on demand and includes ASL interpretation and open captions.
